The May bank holiday weekend saw

members observing from the new
site in the Burren again.

observing session held.
SAC members have discovered an
ideal observing site located in the Burren. The area is well isolated and the
sky is very dark. Two
observing sessions have been held there already. The
site location shown on Google maps.

with a long exposure shot of the ISS passing over a beach in the Algarve.

website & Message Board.
- The new club website is now up and running
along with a club Message
Board.
The board is open to visitors and club members to post messages (once
registered).

Lillis & Frank Ryan Jr on the wireless.
- We were delighted to be asked to be the
special guests on the John Maloney Show
on East Limerick Community Radio for a casual discussion about all things
astronomical.
The topics discussed ranged from beginning in astronomy, what to see in the
nights sky, the Moon missions,
meteors and doomsday scenarios to is there any other life out there!

- Caitriona presented a talk for us on the Cassini
-Huygens mission in
UL last year.

15.05.2007 (Tuesday) - "Capturing
Ancient Light" - A talk by Prof. David Malin.
- SAC in conjunction
with the physics dept. of the University of Limerick, were honored to host a
talk by the world renowned photographic scientist and astronomer,
Prof. David Malin formerly of AAO.
His talk, entitled "Capturing Ancient Light",
was a well-illustrated look at astronomical imaging and what the pictures
can show us.
