The Sun through the ETX70 on the 23rd of Jan 2005,
It with the canon 300D at prime focus. I stacked 16 images in registax and processed in photoshop

The Active region 10720 that sparked off aurorea on the 21st of January. Taken through a Skylux 70mm refractor with a Thousand Oaks filter. Taken with a Philips ToUcam Pro and AVI video file processed in Registax 3.

Taken the same time as the white light image just below, you can see how the sun spots correspond to features on the h alpha Sun. It was made for 2 separate pictures, each was the result of stacking 300 frames. I added a yellow hue to it, as Im not a fan of the Red given by this scope.

The graininess is real (granulation), you actually see more detail with the eye. Note all the solar flares/prominences on the edge and how they form a line with the sunspots.

This white light, low resolution picture of the Sun is the result of stacking 24 individual frames.Taken at 19.34 through a Thousand oaks type 2+ full aperture filter on a 12 SCT with a canon EOS 300D + registax

Coronado 70mm Ha scope + toucam pro (no eyepiece) at prime focus.. Stacked 100 pics from a video of 250. The setup was not too steady, hence the large number of dropped frames.

This picture taken at 16:30 is stacked from 200 frames, note the flare on the upper left hand side and the prominences going across the disk !!! The visual image was much more impressive then what the camera could capture.
Coronado 70mm H-alpha scope piggybacked on LX200 + Toucam Pro + Laptop PC + astrosnap + registax.

The telescope was a Meade ETX90 with Thousand Oaks solar filter. The images were recorder on ASA 200, 35mm film at prime focus.

Active region AR488. This was located just above AR 484 and its associated coronal mass ejections that gave rise to the auroras of late October and early November 2003. See the Aurora Gallery.

Active region AR486. This picture and the next one were taken with a Meade ETX90 using a type 2 thousand oaks solar filter and a Philips Toucam Pro webcam at prime focus. The images are derived from the best frames of 3 30 second avi files recorded. These were taken between midday and 3 pm.

Active region 484 is now rotated to the left of the image and the new active region has rotated into view. Taken on the 26th of October by using a Helios 4.5" reflector with Baader astrosolar film and Nikon Coolpix digital camera pointed into a 20mm lens.

Image of AR484. It's the best 44 frames out 151 with the To U Cam Pro and a Celestron Firstscope 80 refractor. False colour was applied using MaximDL. Note you can also see the next AR appearing around the edge of the disk on the right.
